What is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is found in the hemp plant and is only one of the 100+ components found in the plant. CBD is usually extracted from the flowers of the hemp plant. It will not get you high, because the element THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) has been taken out. In the UK and other parts of Europe CBD is legal.
Is CBD legal in the UK?
Our products are fully compliant, carefully made, and perfectly legal in the UK.
Although the CBD industry changes and evolves, CBD (Cannabidiol) taken orally and topically is perfectly legal. It is not a medicine. Selling CBD products is legal in the UK, providing they contain no controlled substances such as THC and come from an EU approved hemp strain.

In a word, “NO”. CBD (Cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol)occur naturally in the cannabis plant; however CBD can be isolated from the cannabis plant and the THC compound. It is the THC compound that will make you “high”. Products infused with CBD in a topical product do not have the high-inducing THC. CBD alone is non-intoxicating.
There are two ways to take CBD, orally or topically
1. Orally
a) Oils
- Having a CBD in an oil tincture means that you will be able to easily increase or decrease the dosage. All CBD oils come with a graduated pipette for easy dosing. You are in control.
- A tincture is a concoction you take by dropper or a spray which goes straight into your mouth. Put the drops under your tongue and hold it there for a minute before swallowing. This part of the mouth is capillary-rich and so the CBD will reach your bloodstream quicker.
- You can also add the oil to foods, such as a smoothie, porridge oats or salad dressings. Don’t heat or cook with it as it will start to degrade. Don’t forget that when you “eat” it, the CBD goes into the digestive tract which means it will work slower than if you put it under your tongue.
b) Capsule/Tablet/Gummy
- CBD can be taken in a capsule/tablet and a gummy form, this is a good option for people who want to maintain a consistent amount of CBD in the body. This makes it easy to monitor how much you are taking. However, don’t forget that it is ingested meaning it goes into the digestive tract and may take longer to take effect. Gummies can be chewed, while tablets and capsules are swallowed with water.
2. Topically
Creams, oils, balms.
- In these forms the CBD is blended with other natural ingredients which makes it easy to spread on the skin. It also contains ingredients which have other benefits, for example our body oil contains Lavender which helps the body and mind relax. When you use CBD in a topical form you can target areas that are painful and use it when required.
CBD products are safe to apply, however, just like any other product that you would apply to your skin, it is better to test a small amount on a patch of skin before using it more extensively. You should consult a doctor or health professional if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking any prescribed medication before applying CBD topical creams.

How long does it take for Taylor’s CBD topical products to be effective?
CBD creams, balms and body oil work by binding to the receptors in the dermal and epidermal layers of the skin.
It will take between 10 – 20 minutes to take effect, however the key is to massage the area rather than just slapping it on! From experience it is best to apply 3 – 4 times during the day and don’t forget to apply at night just before bed. For those of you who unfortunately have arthritis then consistency is key.
What is the endocannabinoid system?
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a biological system in the body that helps regulate and balance key bodily functions such as learning and memory, emotional processing, sleep, temperature control, pain control, inflammatory and immune responses, and eating.
Throughout the body there are Cannabinoid receptors. Endocannabinoids, which the body naturally produces, attach or bind to the receptors which send a message to the ECS to kick-start a response.
Endocannabinoids are present in various organs and tissues, such as muscles, brain and circulating cells. The Endocannabinoids become active when they bind with a cannabinoid receptor.
Whilst research is still ongoing, we can say that the role of the endocannabinoid system is to regulate and balance key functions including sleep, pain and inflammation.
